Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a therapy recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence(NICE) for Post Traumatic Stress. The therapy involves: *Taking your history and identifying the trauma/traumatic experiences. *Looking at your coping strategies and building them. *Targeting the trauma and using eye movements, tapping, or buzzers to reprocess the trauma. This is similar to eye movements in REM sleep. You are fully conscious and do not have to speak about all that you see, feel or experienced. The reprocessing involves stopping to keep you in the present but moving the trauma from a place in your brain, which takes you to re-experiencing, to your long term memory.Through EMDR we also access your adaptive information processing part of your brain, which allows your mind to create new adaptations to the traumatic experience. *We then check you have cleared the trauma and look at how you would prefer to cope in the future. Please feel free to enquire, ask questions or to meet me.
